Network Marketing Profession

Network Marketing Parallels Christian Lifestyle

Over the past few years I have noticed a lot of parallels between the network marketing profession and the Christian lifestyle, and I'd like to briefly write about that in this note. I truly believe that this type of career is one that God wants us choose because it is filled with freedom in every area of our life.

 

1. We sow seeds. The Parable of the Sower is well known in the Bible. As we look through that parable, we see its parallel with the network marketing profession. Sometimes we talk to people that don't want anything to do with this profession and that is called unfertile ground. Sometimes we sow seeds in the lives of people that are eager to hear about how this profession and the products we talk about can change their life, but then they start listening to those around them and their desire wanes off quickly. We have those who start off excited but then get distracted with other things, and their career comes to a halt. Finally, when we sow in fertile ground, the people will be excited about starting and their work is multiplied over and over again. 

 

2. We share our stories. As Christians, we are encouraged to share our testimony of how God has changed our lives completely. As we spend more and more time with Him, deepening our relationship with Him, studying His word, etc, we have more and more stories to share with others  thereby bringing more hope to the world. In network marketing, the more time we spend learning about the products and experiencing them, the more stories we have to share and the more lives we will be able to see changed for the better. 

 

 

3. We share passionately. When we have a deep relationship with God and walk daily with Him, we can't help but share what He has done in our lives - how much peace and joy He has provided for us as we trust Him on our walk through this life. In the NWM profession we are able to share much more passionately when we experience the products on a daily basis.

 

4. As others share like we share, the more people are helped. Paul was a great evangelist, but if did not have people like Timothy who he taught to find faithful multipliers, then the gospel would not have been spread all over the world. If Mother Theresa has not taught a few people to do what she does, there is no way that she could have helped as many poor people as she did. In the network marketing profession, we strive to team up with people who are "faithful multipliers" as well - as they go out and share with others about the profession and the products we offer, our efforts are multiplied and a lot more people are helped then if we tried to do it all in our own effort.

 

5. It's all about trusting God day to day. As we start out in the network marketing profession, we have to learn to just let go of the "securities" that we once thought were there. We begin to learn to trust God to provide for us on a DAILY basis, like He did for the people of Israel in the desert when He had manna rain down from heaven, a fresh batch every day. They could not store the manna for a "rainy day", they had only what was needed for the day and then they trusted God for his provision again the next day. This kind of trust is now lacking excessively; we are trusting more in our bank accounts and our monthly paychecks and in the fact that we will get social security and/or a pension, and then we really stress out when we lose our job. We think we will never be able to pay the bills. Somehow, though, as we trust God for His DAILY provision, He always come through. He has shown me that lesson over and over again at different times of my life. It's so awesome when we can just TRUST Him for daily provision, and when we choose the network marketing career, that is what we have to learn to do. 

 

6. We experience rejection by those we love. Jesus was rejected by His family and the people from His town, so why would we think that rejection would not be a part of our own life, and even more as we embrace the network marketing profession as our career of choice, when it's not the way things are normally done?

 

7. We have to let go of those who reject us and share elsewhere. Jesus told His disciples when He commissioned them that if someone did not listen to them,to move on to another town - Matthew 10:1 says, " If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet". We are not to stay around and try to convince them of the truth God has revealed to us, both as Christians and as network marketers; we need to move on to others who WILL listen and see that what we say is true.

 

8.  A Career in the Network Marketing profession is a daily reminder that God wants us to avoid looking to our own effort to gain an outcome. So many times when we work at a regular job or we have our own business, we tend to believe that our own hard work and effort is what gets us the money and status we desire; we work long hours and weekends to try to "make ends meet", but we simply get tired out and stressed. God wants us to remember daily that HE is the one that makes us successful, as it says in Deuternomy 8:18. There is also a reminder in the Psalms that unless God is the one who builds, our effort is in vain. (Psalm 127:1-2) When we build a business in the network marketing profession and not worry about the money coming in but strive to help people with a servant heart and help them in any way possible, relying on God's wisdom and training, we get to live a stress-free life and help others lead that same kind of lifestyle. 

 

9. A career in the Network Marketing profession is a daily reminder to rely on GOD'S wisdom, not on our knowledge. We strive to go to school to get good grades so that we can go to college and get good grades so we can go on to the University and then maybe get a Master's Degree. Though the knowledge we get is great, if we have the money to get it, unfortunately we tend to think that it's because of all that knowledge that we have gotten where we want to be. We tend to forget that GOD is who gave us the desire to get this degree to serve others in a humble way. Most of the time, we brag about the degree we have and tend to belittle those who don't have it. The networrk marketing profession, on the other hand, is a daily reminder to us that GOD is who gives us the wisdom so we can use our gifts to serve others humbly. As we look to Him for guidance, as it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, we ask for His guidance as Salomon did when he became king at 16 and knew that only God's wisdom could help him lead the great nation God asked him to lead (see I Kings 3:7-9). When we humble ourselves before God and ask HIM to train us as we need, He leads us to books, videos, and people that can help us immensely in this area. The more we know, the more we can serve others with a servant heart, and that is what God called us to do in this world. The network marketing profession does not focus on degrees, but on servanthood - and that is how it parallels the Christian life.

 

God wants us to experience a life of freedom where we can spend every waking hour simply going about helping others in love. He wants us to spend less time stressing and more time trusting Him to guide us to the right people at the right moment, sharing with them our experiences and offering help, relying on HIS wisdom, not on our knowledge. The network marketing profession offers us this type of life. As God adds people to our team, we can experience this freedom more and more.

 

Let's embrace the network marketing profession, and know that God is opening doors for us every step of the way as we embark on this journey.
